Why and when should you choose a web application over a desktop one?

Desktop applications are perfect for office setups: you have a server, some computers, and all your users work from their offices or remote into the corporate network with various ways (usually, corporate VPN or a similar setup).

With this setup, your server stores all your data and your users are connected to it. If they're not logged in to the company network, they can't access any company applications and data.
